Artificial Neural Network based Oceanic Oilspill Detection using SAR images

Abstract

Various segmentation techniques have already been employed to segment the oil spill areas from the images of ocean. Continuous monitoring and capturing temporal images can also help us to determine the flow of oil spill which can be used further for making the water clean again by clearing the polluted contents. The purpose of this paper is to study the various techniques of oil spill segmentation and to explore the best one to detect and clear the oil spill from oceans. The present thesis aims to add to the knowledge of the fundamentals of segmentation and classification techniques, thereby aiding in the development of a new technology for oil spill detection with the possibility of working in real time and giving us reliable and accurate results
